Upload one photo or logo and this tool builds a full favicon set from it: a single favicon.ico file bundling six sizes (16, 32, 48, 64, 128, and 256px) for desktop use, plus each of those six sizes as its own separate PNG for a website's icon tags. Press Generate Favicon and every file renders on an internal canvas in a couple of seconds, ready to download individually or all at once.
There's no cropping step. The tool automatically takes a square out of the middle of your photo — using the shorter of its width or height as the square's side — and resizes that square to each of the six output sizes. A portrait or landscape photo with an important detail near one edge will have that edge cut off, with no control over which part of the image survives. If that matters, crop the photo to roughly square first with /image/crop before uploading it here.
How it works

How the square crop works
Before resizing, the tool measures your photo's width and height, takes the smaller of the two as the side length of a square, and crops that square out of the exact center of the image. Everything outside that centered square — the extra width on a landscape photo, or the extra height on a portrait one — is discarded before any of the six sizes are rendered, so there's no way to recover it afterward.
The ICO file versus the individual PNGs
The ICO bundles PNG-encoded image data for all six sizes into a single container file, which is the format desktop shortcuts and some site builders specifically ask for. The separate PNG downloads are the same six rendered images as standalone files, which is what a modern site's own icon tags typically reference one at a time. Both come from the same six render passes, so a given size looks identical whether you open it from the ICO or download it as its own PNG.
No file-size limit, unlike most tools on this site
Most upload-based tools on TryDocsy reject a file above a stated size limit before doing anything with it. This one doesn't — there's no size cap coded into its uploader, so a very large photo will still be accepted and processed. It just may take a brief moment longer to render on an older or low-powered device, since the browser still has to decode and draw the full image before cropping it down.
Frequently asked questions
Does the tool let me choose which part of my photo becomes the favicon?
No. It automatically crops a centered square using the shorter of your photo's width or height, with no option to reposition or adjust that crop.
What's actually inside the favicon.ico file?
PNG-encoded image data for all six sizes, bundled into one ICO container — the modern PNG-based ICO format, not the older BMP-frame style some very old software expects.
Is my photo capped at a maximum size before I can generate a favicon?
