This tool mirrors a single image left-to-right, top-to-bottom, or both, drawing the result onto an HTML canvas entirely in your browser tab. Drop or browse one image (up to 20 MB), toggle Flip Horizontal and/or Flip Vertical, watch the preview update instantly, then press Apply & Download to re-render at full resolution. The two flip buttons are independent toggles, so you can turn either one on, both on, or switch back off before committing to a download.
It only mirrors pixels — nothing here crops, resizes, or rotates by an angle, and the Apply & Download button stays disabled until you’ve actually chosen a direction. The output format also depends on your source: a PNG input downloads as PNG, but every other input type (JPG, WebP, GIF) is redrawn and exported as a JPEG at 0.95 quality. That matters if your original was a transparent WebP or an animated GIF: the flipped download loses the transparency or the animation, because the canvas can only capture one flattened frame.
How it works

2. Toggle a flip direction
Click Flip Horizontal, Flip Vertical, or both. The buttons highlight when active and the preview canvas redraws immediately so you can see the mirrored result before committing.
3. Apply & Download
This button is greyed out until at least one direction is toggled on. Clicking it re-renders the flip at your image’s original resolution and swaps the button for a Download link.
4. Start Over if needed
Clears the loaded file and both flip toggles so you can begin again with a different image.

Fixing a mirrored selfie
Many phone front cameras show a mirrored preview, so text on a shirt or a watch face can come out backward in the saved photo. A horizontal flip puts it back the right way round before you share it.
A document photographed through glass
A page shot through a window or off a mirror’s reflection reads backward. Flipping it horizontally restores readable text without needing to rescan the original.
Building a symmetrical pair for a layout
Flip a product shot or icon to create a mirrored twin for a symmetrical banner, collage, or before/after comparison graphic.
Turning a character or object around
For a meme, sticker, or illustration, flip a subject to face the opposite direction so it fits a layout without re-drawing it.
What flipping changes and what it leaves alone
A flip only reflects the pixels you already have across a horizontal or vertical axis; the canvas width and height stay exactly what they were, and there’s no crop or angle rotation bundled in here. If you need the image mirrored and resized, or mirrored and cropped to a specific ratio, you’ll need to run it through this tool and a second one, since Flip Image does one job on purpose.
The preview canvas you see while adjusting is a scaled-down copy capped at 400 pixels on the long edge, purely so it loads fast; the actual download is rendered separately from your original file at full size once you press Apply & Download, so the preview’s resolution never limits your result.
Why your download might change format
The tool checks only one thing to decide the output format: whether your source file’s type is exactly image/png. If it is, the flipped result downloads as a PNG with transparency intact. If it’s anything else — JPG, WebP, GIF, or others — the canvas fills a white background first (so transparent pixels don’t turn black) and exports a JPEG instead.
In practice this means a transparent WebP logo or sticker will come back as a flattened, opaque JPEG unless you convert it to PNG first — /convert/webp-to-png handles that conversion — and an animated GIF will only flip its first frame, since a canvas can only ever hold one static image at a time.
Frequently asked questions
Will my transparent image stay transparent after flipping?
Only if the file you uploaded is a PNG. Any other format — JPG, WebP, GIF — is exported as a flattened JPEG with a white background painted in behind any transparent areas.
Can I flip both horizontally and vertically at the same time?
Yes. The two buttons are independent toggles, so both can be active together and the preview will show the combined result before you download.
Why won’t the Apply & Download button click?
It stays disabled until you’ve turned on at least one flip direction. With neither toggle active there’s nothing to apply, so the button is intentionally inert.
Does flipping resize or crop my photo?
No. The output keeps your original pixel dimensions exactly — flipping only mirrors the existing pixels across an axis, it doesn’t change the canvas size.
What happens to an animated GIF I upload?
Only its first frame is flipped and downloaded, as a single still JPEG. The canvas the tool draws onto can’t hold multiple frames, so the animation itself is lost.
How big can the image I upload be?
Up to 20 MB. A larger file is turned away immediately at the upload step with an on-screen message telling you it exceeds the limit.
