Do these QR codes expire?
No. Every code made here is static, which means your content — the link, the WiFi password, the contact card — is encoded directly into the pattern of black and white squares. There is no short link or account in the middle that can be switched off, so the code keeps working for as long as the destination itself does. Print it on a business card in 2026 and it still scans in 2036.
Is there any tracking or scan counting?
Not in the code itself. Many free QR generators quietly point the code at their own redirect domain so they can count scans, show ads, or start charging you later. This tool cannot do that even in principle: the pattern is drawn in your browser from your content, no redirect or analytics domain appears anywhere in the encoded data, and your content is never sent to TryDocsy — so nobody, including us, can see or count the people who scan your code. To be straight with you about the page itself: trydocsy.com runs standard anonymous website analytics (Google Analytics), which records that a QR code was generated and that a file was downloaded. It never receives what you encoded.
How does a WiFi QR code work?
Choose the WiFi tab, type your network name (SSID), pick the security type (WPA/WPA2/WPA3 for almost every modern router) and enter the password. The generated code carries those credentials in the standard WIFI: format, and the built-in camera app on Android and iOS offers to join the network when it is scanned. Bear in mind that anyone who can see the printed code can read the password from it, so treat it like a written-down password — great for a guest network sticker, less so for the office server VLAN.
Which error-correction level should I pick?
M is the right default for anything on a screen or a clean printed page — it recovers about 15% damage while keeping the code small. Choose H (about 30%) when the code will be printed small, laminated, stuck on something that gets scuffed, or has a logo placed over the middle. Choose L only when you are encoding a lot of text and need the densest possible code; it leaves almost no damage tolerance.
Can I print the QR code large, on a poster or banner?
Yes — download the SVG rather than the PNG. SVG is vector, so it stays perfectly crisp at any size, from a business card to a shopfront window. The PNG is fine for screens and small prints; pick the largest pixel size on the slider if you must use it in print. As a rule of thumb for physical printing, make the code at least one tenth as wide as the distance people will scan it from.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The encoder is plain JavaScript that runs inside your own browser tab, and the finished PNG or SVG is created locally. Your URL, WiFi password, phone number and contact details never leave your device — which is exactly why this tool is safe for credentials that a server-side generator would see in plain text.
What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?
A static code encodes your content directly and can never be changed or revoked — but it also never expires and cannot be tracked. A dynamic code encodes a short link owned by a company, which lets you edit the destination later at the price of an account, a subscription, scan tracking, and the risk that the code dies if that company does. This tool makes static codes only.
Why won't my code scan?
Almost always contrast or size. The Appearance panel measures the contrast ratio between your two colours as you pick them and warns you when the pair drops below roughly 4.5:1, or when the code comes out inverted (light pattern on dark) — inverted codes defeat many phone cameras. Keep the quiet zone at 4 modules or more so the code has clean space around it. And if you have encoded a very long block of text, the pattern gets dense; shorten the content or drop the error-correction level to L.
