How it works

Staff Selection Commission (SSC CGL and CHSL) applications
SSC application portals require signatures at 140x60 pixels between 10 KB and 20 KB in black ink. The tool scales strokes proportionally and prevents rejection for exceeding 20 KB.
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC OTR) registrations

The virtual pad includes a faint dotted baseline guideline located at 70% of canvas height, helping users keep their signatures level without baking the guideline into the final exported graphic.
Letterbox containment and trailing zero-byte padding
Uploading a mobile photo of a paper signature typically brings uneven margins and random aspect ratios. If an application blindly stretches that image to fill 140×60 pixels, the letters become elongated or squashed, altering the candidate's authentic handwriting.
This tool applies proportional contain scaling: it fills the background with pure white (RGB 255, 255, 255) and draws the signature centered within the target rectangle, preserving stroke geometry. After rendering, a binary search over JPEG quality finds the highest quality at or under your target maximum, without shrinking the pixel size. If even the lowest quality is over the limit, the tool shows an error instead of producing an oversized file. If the resulting file weighs less than the portal's minimum ceiling (such as 10 KB), the tool appends zero bytes past the JPEG End of Image marker to satisfy automated portal validators without degrading contrast.

Why do government forms reject a signature?
SSC, IBPS and RRB notices ask for running handwriting as used in daily banking transactions, and state that signatures written entirely in capital or block letters will be disqualified. Using initials only or drawing unreadable symbols often results in application cancellation during document verification.
When photographing a handwritten signature on paper, use unruled, bright white paper and a black ballpoint pen; the UPSC One Time Registration FAQ also asks for black ink, preferably, for better visibility.
