Some recruitment notices ask candidates to upload a scanned signature in a wide 3:1 shape. This client-side tool resizes your signature image to 6×2 cm, which works out to 708×236 pixels at 300 DPI, and exports a JPEG file. How it works
1. Step 1 — Upload Photo
Click “Upload Photo” or drop your signature file into the area. Scans or photos in JPG, PNG or WEBP format are read by any modern browser. If your phone saved the signature as HEIC, it will only open in Safari, so convert it to JPG when you use another browser.
2. Review Specifications
Confirm the preset specifications card showing 708×236 Pixels, 6×2 cm in Centimeters, 300 DPI Resolution, and the 10–20 KB File Size target range.
3. Resize Photo
Click “Resize Photo”. While processing, the button changes to “Processing...” as it draws the image to canvas and searches for an optimal JPEG quality.
4. Step 2 — Download Result
Review the status. If the file falls between 10 KB and 20 KB, it displays “Ready to use”. If the compressed image falls below 10 KB, the tool pads it to 10 KB so portals with strict minimums accept it. What SSC and IBPS actually specify for signatures
In the SSC notice for the Combined Graduate Level Examination 2026 (ssc.gov.in), paragraph 9.6 asks for the scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format between 10 and 20 KB and says its dimension “should be about 6.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height)”. It adds that applications with blurred or miniature signatures will be rejected, except for candidates using Aadhaar-based authentication. The same notice’s application annexure gives the signature as about 4.0 cm × 2.0 cm, so read the version you are applying under carefully. We did not find an SSC rule about capital letters or ink colour in that notice.
IBPS gives the signature size in pixels, not centimetres. Its 2026 detailed notification for the CRP PO/MT-XVI probationary officer recruitment (ibps.in) asks you to sign on white paper with a black ink pen, gives the signature as 140 × 60 pixels (preferred), and sets the file size between 10 KB and 20 KB. It also states that a signature in CAPITAL LETTERS shall not be accepted. For an IBPS form, resize to 140 × 60 pixels with a general resizer rather than using this 6×2 cm preset.
Why the preset targets 10–20 KB and how padding works

If your scanned signature compresses to under 10 KB, the tool adds zero-byte padding inside an extra JPEG APP1 marker to bring the file to exactly 10 KB. This prevents exam portals from rejecting files for being too small without altering the visible image.
If a complex signature cannot reach under 20 KB even at the lowest compression quality (0.1), the resizer falls back to quality 0.9 and displays “File size outside target range”. In that situation, crop excess white margins or reduce phone scan resolution before uploading.
Center-cropping mechanics and paper shadow limitations
The resizer scales your image to fit a 708×236 pixel canvas (a 3:1 width-to-height ratio). Because it performs a strict center crop, any parts of the image extending beyond this rectangular ratio are cut off. If you sign near the top edge of the paper or have tall vertical loops, an uncentered crop may clip your strokes. Leave generous white space around your signature and crop tightly to the pen strokes before uploading.
The tool draws onto a canvas that initializes with white (#ffffff), but this white layer only shows through transparent pixels (such as in a transparent PNG). It does not detect or whiten the background of a smartphone photo, nor does it remove dark shadows cast by your phone or hand. To obtain a clear scan, place the signed paper on a flat surface in bright, even daylight or use a document scanner app before resizing.
