N-up PDF Free Online
N-up PDF is a free, in-browser tool that tiles several PDF pages onto one printable sheet without uploading your file. Pick 2, 4, 6, 9 or 16 pages per sheet, choose A4, Letter or Legal in portrait or landscape, then dial in the outer margin and the gap between pages. Each page is embedded rather than turned into a picture, so the text stays selectable and prints sharp — a 40-page handout becomes 10 sheets at 4-up, using a quarter of the paper.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many pages can I put on one sheet?
Choose 2, 4, 6, 9 or 16 pages per sheet. They are arranged in a 1×2, 2×2, 2×3, 3×3 or 4×4 grid, filled left to right and top to bottom in reading order. On a landscape sheet the grid is rotated to match, so 2-up becomes two pages side by side.
Will the text still be selectable and searchable?
Yes. Each source page is embedded as a real PDF object, not converted to an image, so the text stays selectable, searchable and copyable — and the file stays small and sharp at any zoom level.
How is this different from merging PDFs?
Merging puts documents one after another and the page count stays the same. N-up shrinks several pages and tiles them onto one larger sheet, so a 40-page document becomes 10 sheets at 4-up. Use Merge PDF to join files, and N-up to save paper when printing.
How do I keep the margins printable?
Most home printers cannot print within roughly 18 points (0.25 inch) of the paper edge, and some need more. Set the page margin to at least 18 pt — 24 to 36 pt is safer — and use the gap setting to keep the tiled pages from touching each other.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read and the new sheets are built entirely in your browser. Your PDF never leaves your device — it is never uploaded to or stored on any server. Once you have used the tool at least once, its code is cached on your device, so it also keeps working on a later visit without a connection.
Does it handle rotated pages and different page sizes?
Yes. Pages with a rotation flag are placed the way you see them on screen, and each page is scaled to fit its slot while keeping its aspect ratio, so a document that mixes portrait and landscape pages still lays out correctly.
Can I run it on a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. Remove the password first with our Unlock PDF tool, then run the unlocked file through N-up.
